We went to the Norman Jay event. Had a fantastic time! Great music and enough space to dance. Everyone looked happy and excited about this night. We need more of this type of events in the area.

My original review must have been reported by the team as it just disappeared, so here I am posting it again... This review is not intended to be malicious but just to inform those thinking of booking Stanley arts as a venue. We genuinely loved the venue and what they bring to the community but after how our wedding went down, I just felt I had to inform others. We booked the outside bar area and cafe for our wedding and despite the Stanley Arts team, it turned out to be a wonderful day. If it wasn’t for our friends and family, and thank goodness Maddie (who seems to run the cafe) then I don’t know what the venue would have looked like. We booked the venue in December 2021 wanting to support a local business and we genuinely liked the teams helpful, community style vibe. The events manager seemed helpful, albeit super slow in her response time. We really were looking forward to having our wedding there. Fast forward a day before our wedding and it all changed. Now by this point there haven’t been any issues between us and the venue, we were a little nervous as the week before it still was pretty much in shambles; however, we trusted them. The afternoon before the wedding, we dropped off our decor etc and the vibe was super off and uncomfortable. We were barely greeted, just a hi and then quickly the three managers scurried off. My partner never picks up on vibes but even he couldn’t wait to leave. The venue was a mess. This was less than 24 hours before our wedding and they still had an event on that night. I was obviously panicking and had to go look for the events manager to tell her our issues. Some of the things were pointed out to her weeks ago (empty shelves with potting soil and plants, ashtrays, kegs all over the place, bird poop and cigarette buds everywhere). We had to email over a list the night before telling them exactly what to clean. The bathroom our guests were supposed to use was still out of order (it had been for weeks) and only when I pointed it out, it was suddenly fixed. Even though I was told the part still needed to arrive. They first suggested we use this random, filthy bathroom up a flight of stairs. We just got excuses when bringing our concerns to the events manager, who did not check in once with us when we got there. We actually specifically asked if we could get the venue for an additional hour (that we are paying for) so we could clean the venue. My mother in law had to clean the bathroom, and my family was sweeping and mopping the outside area the day of our wedding. They literally only packed away their random bits and bobs and wiped off some bird poo from a pillar. We had to clean window sills covered in months of dirt, sweep the deck and patio, pack away random bits they couldn’t be bothered about - they did the bare minimum. Luckily we had Maddie helping us that day, if it wasn’t for them then I don’t know what would have happened. I really want to say thank you to Maddie and the people helping out that night. Now after the event we received two different invoices and have been getting weekly reminders to pay these invoices, even though we emailed to ask for a comprehensive invoice with all the costs as well as the refundable breakage deposit deducted. What do we get? Another reminder today to pay the same old invoices. Overall we had the time of our lives, but if you don’t have supportive group who can roll up their sleeves or if you want a stress free night’s sleep before your wedding, I definitely wouldn’t recommend Stanley arts. As much as it breaks my heart to say that.
